Saddle Kočna – Between Golica and the Veliki vrh (Struška)
Above the village of Javorniška Rovta, where is also the artificial lake of the Javorniški Rovt hydroelectric power station, stands the Dom Pristava. Former Zois Accession is at an altitude of 975 m. Dom Pristava is even more interesting due to the year 1641 carved on the facade. Because of historical importance, the building is protected as a historical monument. There are no noteworthy views from the Dom Pristava, however, it is an excellent starting point for reaching many surrounding peaks (Golica 1836 m, Stol 2236 m, Veliki Vrh 1944 m …). There is also a restaurant where you can indulge in delicious home-made food. In addition to the restaurant, there are also sleeping rooms, heated by stoves.
The Kočna saddle (between 1400 and 1500 m.a.s.l.) is reached through an undemanding hiking point between Struška planina and Golica. Stručna is a small mountain range with several peaks, among which are the Veliki Vrh with an elevation of 1944 m and Belška planina, also known as Svečica, with an altitude of 1700 m. A beautiful and undemanding path with a starting point at the Dom Pristava leads you through the woods towards the slopes, which lead us to the edge of the saddle. At the top, beautiful view of the neighboring Austria opens and reaches all the way to the Lower Tauern. On the last photo there is a lake Ferlacher Stausee visible. In the distance, you can see peaks Hochgolling (2862 m) and Zirbitzkogel (2396 m). Lower Tauern are also known under the term Low Tours (German Niedere Tauern). The view also reveals Krka Alps, which are separated from the Lower Tauern by the Mura River. The Krka Alps is a lower mountain range, slightly in the foreground in the photograph. Celovec (German Klagenfurt) is also visible on the photography.
